This issue revisits Crusher Hogan, the wrestler from Amazing Fantasy #15 who was Peter Parker’s first opponent before he became Spider-Man. Now working as a janitor at a gym, Hogan spins tall tales about training Spider-Man. When gym fighters are threatened by the brutal Manslaughter Marsdale, Hogan tries to help, and Spider-Man intervenes in the conflict after hearing gunshots. Spidey defeats Manslaughter and, jokingly, confirms Hogan’s exaggerated stories. Meanwhile, Peter Parker fails to protect Aunt May’s boyfriend Nathan Lubensky from being beaten, leaving him hospitalized — a moment that haunts Peter emotionally.
